Yesterday, Sunday April 15th, a line of strong storms at one point stretched from the Florida Straits below the Florida Keys all the way up the East Coast and into Ohio. Many of the storms were strong with wide spread reports of wind damage from north Florida up through the Carolinas and into central Virginia. Among these were several reports of tornadoes from Florida to Virginia. The most significant were an EF-2 tornado that stuck Greensboro, NC, killing one person, and a tornado near Lynchburg in Amherst County Virginia that injured 8 people.

Tornadoes were reported yesterday evening in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. At least nine twisters were reported between 1:40 PM EST and 6:22 EST (1840 - 2322 utc). This unsettled weather caused many customers to lose electric power in northern Ohio. One powerful storm injured eight people in the northern Ohio town of Celina. The severe weather may also be the cause of two deaths in Erie Pennsylvania. 

On Wednesday May 24, 2017 severe weather affected a large area of the eastern United States. Tornadoes were reported in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Ohio. 

Severe thunderstorms spawned tornadoes and generated flooding rainfall over the Southeast on Monday evening. At least twelve tornadoes were reported with twisters spotted in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Four deaths in Alabama and one in Florida have been blamed on this violent weather.

On Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning tornadoes formed along a squall line in advance of a cold front that moved through the Southeast. Over three dozen tornadoes were reported with sightings occurring in Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama. Tornadoes caused the deaths of a least five people in northern Alabama. Storms also took the the lives of two people in Tennessee. This Rainfall may provide some relief to drought ridden eastern Tennessee where destructive wildfires have been occurring. Some storms were accompanied with hail, strong winds and intense showers.

Over the past few days tornado spawning thunderstorms have occurred in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Indiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Large hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding associated with a frontal system moving across the United States have compounded the damage from these storms. Hail the size of a half-dollar was reported near Jackson, Louisiana on Thursday evening.
